WEEI-FM and Providence College
Announce Contract Agreement

Providence, RI – Providence College, Sports Radio 103.7 WEEI-FM, and Nelligan Sports Marketing announced today that 103.7 WEEI-FM will be the exclusive broadcast partner of the PC Friar men’s basketball team beginning this fall and extending through the 2011-12 season.

Sports Radio 103.7 WEEI-FM will broadcast the PC men’s basketball home and away regular and postseason games, as well as 30-minute pre- and post-game shows on all game days. John Rooke and Joe Hassett are entering their 19th year together as the voices of PC men’s basketball as play-by-play commentator and analyst, respectively, and will lead the broadcast team on Sports Radio 103.7 WEEI-FM.

The Friars' regular season tips off on November 15 at the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan.

Sports Radio 103.7 WEEI-FM, which broadcasts all Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics games, as well as Patriots Monday, also will be the new home to Friar Head Coach Tim Welsh’s Radio Show. The Tim Welsh show will be broadcast 10 times during the regular season and throughout the postseason.

"We are extremely excited about this radio partnership with 103.7 WEEI-FM," Providence College Athletics Director Bob Driscoll said. "This provides an excellent opportunity to team with the No. 1 sports radio station in country and will allow Friar fans throughout Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut access to the PC men’s basketball program."

"This is an exciting time for WEEI-FM," said Jason Wolfe, Vice President of Programming for WEEI-FM. "Since we expanded into the Rhode Island market just three years ago, our programming has been extremely well received. This partnership with the Providence College men’s basketball team further cements our position as the No. 1 sports radio station in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Southeastern Massachusetts."

"This will provide great exposure for our basketball program," Coach Welsh said. "We compete in the top basketball conference in the country. Having our games air on 103.7 WEEI-FM will help us to continue to enhance our image as we strive to become one of the top teams in the BIG EAST."

"The great history and tradition of Providence College basketball has touched alumni and fans throughout New England for many years," said Mike Palisi, Senior Vice President of Nelligan Sports Marketing. "We are pleased that our new agreement with 103.7 WEEI-FM will expand the reach of our broadcasts and deliver the excitement of PC basketball to more people than ever before. Our new agreement with WEEI-FM will bring great value to our current corporate partners and play a key role in the expansion of our sponsorship program as we will now offer even greater penetration of the college sports audience for corporate America."
