He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Metro State College of Denver and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. As a former coach, recruiter, and business owner, Rusty has a history of success in sales and recruiting in both the business and athletic arenas. His career began in 1989 as an assistant men’s basketball coach for Metro State College of Denver while finishing his degree and continued at the University of Minnesota-Morris in 1992-95 as the head assistant men’s basketball coach. Following the 1995 season, Rusty moved back to Colorado and began his business career in sales. He worked for Lifetime building products in Greeley, Colorado, from 1995-2001, while working simultaneously as a part-time assistant coach for the University of Northern Colorado during their 1999-2002 men’s basketball seasons. In April of 2001, he founded his own home improvement company, We Improve It. In January of 2005, Rusty expanded his business by entering into a partnership with HomeProUSA, which produced increased product lines, revenue, and territories.

Peggy Busch will join Rusty at CSU as the Director of Sales. She is a graduate of Northern Iowa University with a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota where she worked in sports marketing for the past five years.
